Title: | Self-Portrait of Christopher Acebo |
Date: | 1994 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |
Comments: |
This was intended to be a self-portrait fantasy piece. The sword and side arm were fictitious but the leather jacket was real. Jackets that were busy with multiple zippers, button, buckles, and other accessories were popular back then. |
Title: | Queen Zulara, Full Figure 1 |
Date: | 1992 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

Queen Zulara was a fantasy character concept. She was an antagonist and also a lycanthrope or a werewoman though obviously not shown here. Even though she's evil this illustration is intended to show her as an elegant and even graceful figure despite her nature. Even in wolf form she's not meant to look horrific but actually a beautiful canine creature which makes her all the more dangerous. And no the four arms weren't inspired by any video games. Other concepts were made and she's even depicted more or a warrior instead of a high ranking leader. |
Title: | The Hitman |
Date: | 1994 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |

This was actually intended to be a companion piece for the self-portrait drawing of 1994 even though that was leaning more towards fantasy. Well that idea never reached fruition but I still liked the concept. |
Title: | Queen Zulara, Full Figure 2 |
Date: | 1993 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This is the second fantasy character concept Queen Zulara. She's an antagonist and also a lycanthrope or a werewoman and in this drawing it shows the wolf part in the back. The wolf form is not shown as horrific but as an actual wolf but in human form. A beautiful canine creature yet still dangerous. She's a leader but a warrior as well. It isn't beneath her to get her hands or paws dirty or bloody, all four of them. |
Title: | The War of the Realm |
Date: | 1993 |
Size: | 20" x 16" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This fantasy war scene features the character concept Queen Zulara. She's shown in human form in two previous fantasy drawings. She is a lycanthrope and seen to the right in full wolf form. Because she's an antagonist I also described her as the Heartless Bitch and she's seen tearing away her left breast exposing the empty chest cavity. She's able to live and thrive without a beating heart and is therefore incapable of feeling any pity or compassion and shows absolutely no mercy in battle. A deadly creature of beauty yet with purpose. |
Title: | A Portrait of Tara |
Date: | 1995 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

Tara was our beloved pet. A stray dog we adopted back in the 80's. To my knowledge she was a mix of Doberman and German Shepard who lived a long life with love. May she rest in peace and she'll always be missed and remembered. |
Title: | Tall Ship Portrait |
Date: | 2000 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This was a drawing inspired by someone who I was dating back then. My beloved Suzanne Young, an art teacher and artist in her own making and more talented then I'll ever be. At the time I was brainstorming of something new to draw and she had a love of boats and the ocean so she suggested a tall ship and it was a great idea. |
Title: | Gina's Landscape |
Date: | 2001 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This was named for my Aunt Gina which this was a gift for her. She lives in Florida but this landscape was from a beach in Port Townsend, Washington during a vacation trip I took there. Their beaches are considerable different then those on Long Island, NY where I'm from or Florida for that matter. The rock formation was there to begin with but the logs were in a different position so I had taken a series of photos and mix and matched to create the composition. It would have been nice to work from life but the weather was cloudy with a chance of rain so photos were all that I could work with. I signed it which I believe was Gina's idea. However I also began adding my initials hidden in different places. That was nothing new of course but I liked doing it anyhow. There's at least five CA's to locate. |
Title: | Godzilla |
Date: | 1997 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This was a concept inspired by a fellow coworker who was a die hard Godzilla fan. I was a fan too. I watched the films and had some of the toys growing up so I created this drawing of Godzilla battling his arch-enemy King Ghidorah, a giant three-headed dragon hydra. What inspired this was my friend read a fan based magazine called G-FAN. They allowed art work submissions for publication so I thought I'd give it a try. To my surprised they never even responded for whatever reason. Oh well! I still have a cool drawing to show for it. |
Title: | Bill's Ride |
Date: | 1996 |
Size: | 20" x 16" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This is an interesting piece I did for a friend and coworker named Bill Cherichetti. At the time the job I was doing wasn't art or design related. It had been three years since I did any form of artwork which was probably not the best decision I had made. However, during casual talk my friend Bill heard I could draw and asked if I could draw him on a motorcycle. I had never drawn such a subject and I was reluctant because I hadn't drawn in quite some time but I accepted. One thing I definitely learned is once an artist always an artist. One may become rusty or our of practice but that talent never goes away and developing it boils down to the individual. I still had an attention to detail and I actually enjoyed drawing the cycle itself more than the rider and surrounding landscape. In the end Bill was very satisfied with the results. |
Title: | Skull - Anatomy Sketch |
Date: | 1992 |
Size: | 18" x 24" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on newsprint. |

This was one of the early pieces in Anatomy Drawing class at the School of Visual Arts. Prior to the class I had seen a number of well made anatomical drawings so I just couldn't resist. As being attracted to detail what better to try than the human skull. |
Title: | Body 1 - Anatomy Sketch |

This was another of the early pieces in Anatomy Drawing class at the School of Visual Arts. The assignment was to draw from the neck down to the pelvis. I think it was by chance I was seated behind it rather then by choice which is fine. The rib cage from behind with the vertebrae is far more intricate then the front ribs and sternum. |
Title: | Hands & Feet - Anatomy Sketch |
Date: | 1992 |
Size: | 30" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on paper. |

The assignment was to draw an arm and leg in Anatomy Drawing class at the School of Visual Arts. That was the minimum required but I took it a little further because I decided on something symmetrical. The added hands surrounding the drawing were sign language which was supposed to be my last name in a circular pattern. At the time a friend at work was studying the language who provided the symbols. Although I'm unsure if the letters are accurate or not it makes a good design either way . |
Title: | Fantasy Warrior |
Date: | 1997 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

This was something of my own imagination which was inspired by watching Japanese animation. The end result wasn't quite what I expected but I wasn't really working from any references. Just by memory and ideas as I worked along. |
Title: | The Kravelons |
Date: | 1999 |
Size: | 16" x 20" |
Medium: | Drawing pencil on illustration board. |

The Kravelons was a series of science fiction cartoon characters I came of with years ago and developed them on and off. They were protagonists of course but I never had a solid idea as to what kind. There were a bunch of concepts that never reached fruition but I still had fun with them. The middle figure is Sputnik who was the leader. The smaller figure at the bottom left was Vlop, a blob who could morph into different shapes and to the right of him was Corackus. He was the giant robotic cat. There was lots of inspiration pieced together over the years and yes I know Sputnik was also a Russian satellite. |

There were a bunch of concepts that never reached fruition but I still had fun with them. The character to the left is Sputnik who was the leader of the pack. To the right would be Alien, the famous creature also known as a xenomorph or Internecivus raptus. Obviously, not of my creation. |
